Kyrgyzstan's Emergencies Ministry announced on October 18 the recovery of the bodies of three victims from an avalanche site in the southwestern district of Chatkal, while the search continues for others still missing in the district's Ak-Sai mountains. On October 9, a group of 14 people, including a foreign national, went missing while searching for medicinal plants. Eight members of the group were found safely on October 16. Rescuers continue to search the area. Rescuers suspended search operations in the area late on October 18 for one day due to weather conditions, including rain and snow, after the region experienced heavy snowfall on October 13-16.
