The Taliban has struck government compounds in eastern Afghanistan in an attack that left at least 31 people dead and dozens of others wounded.
The September 4 attack started at sunrise with militants setting off at least one suicide truck bomb outside the National Directorate of Security office in the provincial capital of Ghazni.
Local officials told RFE/RL the attackers first fired rockets into the city early in the morning, which was followed by multiple attacks on government buildings.
According to the officials, all 19 attackers, as well as 12 civilians and government soldiers, were killed in an hourlong gun battle.
Ghazni Governor Musa Khan Akbarzada said the city library and two museums were damaged in the attack.
The Taliban claimed responsibility.
