An Afghan delegate at the NATO summit in Britain has reportedly claimed asylum upon arriving in London.
The British newspaper “The Times” reported on September 4 that Army Colonel Enayatullah Barack asked for asylum when his plane landed at Heathrow Airport.
RFE/RL’s Radio Free Afghanistan reports that Barack was supposed to be the Afghan delegation’s flag carrier at the NATO summit, which started on September 4 in Wales.
The delegation included high-ranking Afghan government officials, including Defense Minister Bismilalh Mohamad, and the army's chief of staff, General Sher Mohamad Karimi.
There has been no comment from the Afghan government.
