A treasure trove of what appears to be some of the best-known 20th-century works of Uzbek art has been discovered in the Geneva home of Gulnara Karimova.
Uzbek Treasures In A Geneva Attic

1
"Granat," or "Pomegranate," by Uzbek artist Lev Reznikov (1928-2003). Reznikov sold the painting to the Tashkent State Museum of Art in 1990 on the condition it could not be resold.

What appears to be Reznikov's signature on the back of the painting, which also reads, "Still Life: 'Granat'"

3
Many of the paintings found in Karimova's Geneva home were wrapped lightly in plastic and stored in a humid attic.

4
"Portrait of a Woman," a 1960 painting by Viktor Ufimtsev (1899-1964).

5
"Krasavitsa," or "Beauty," a 1980 painting by Chingiz Akhmarov (1912–1995).

6
The inscription, apparently in Akhmarov's handwriting, on the back of the painting.

7
Akhmarov's "Uyghur Girl."

8
A painting of a cotton plant by Uzbek artist Ruzi Choriev (1931-2004).
