Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko says the Prosecutor-General's Office has opened a criminal case against her, accusing her of embezzling funds allocated as part of the Kyoto Protocol.

Tymoshenko has been ordered not to leave Kyiv.

Speaking to reporters in the capital today, Tymoshenko said that, so far, investigators have not filed charges against her.

Earlier, Ukrainian authorities detained former Environment Minister Heorhiy Filipchuk, who is being investigated for alleged abuse of office.

The state prosecutor's office released a statement saying it had opened a criminal case against Filipchuk following an audit into the previous government's affairs.

Filipchuk is the third minister from Tymoshenko's former government to face criminal charges since her rival for the presidency, Viktor Yanukovich, assumed office in February.
