Imprisoned Russian oil tycoon Mikhail Khodorkovsky has filed for parole.

Khodorkovsky filed the appeal on May 27, according to the text of the document in question, which was posted on his supporters' website.

Khodorkovsky said he is continuing to plead innocent to all charges.

Khodorkovsky's business partner Platon Lebedev, who was convicted on the same charges also filed an appeal on May 30.

This will be Khodorkovsky's second parole motion; his first was denied in 2008.

On May 24, a Russian court upheld a fraud conviction for the Yukos oil company founder but cut his time in jail by one year until autumn 2016.
