Gazprom chief Aleksei Miller was in Bishkek today to announce his company will start exploring for hydrocarbon deposits in Kyrgyzstan soon and would spend some $100 million on the geological surveys.

Miller met with Kyrgyz Prime Minister Almaz Atambaev to discuss Gazprom's work in Kyrgyzstan.

Miller indicated that Gazprom and the Kyrgyz government were working out the final details on Gazprom's purchase of majority shares in Kyrgyzgaz and Kyrgyzneftegaz.

Miller said the amount of money Gazprom plans to spend in Kyrgyzstan shows the Russian company has faith in Kyrgyzstan's long-term stability and predicted Kyrgyzstan would soon become "attractive to investors."
