A court in Russia's far western Kaliningrad exclave has rejected an appeal filed by activist Vadim Khairullin against his imprisonment under a controversial law that criminalizes participation in more than one unsanctioned protest within a 180-day period. Khairullin's lawyer told RFE/RL that the Kaliningrad regional court pronounced its ruling on November 7. Khairullin was sentenced in August for holding three one-person pickets last year to support jailed opposition politician Aleksei Navalny.
