Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a bill into law on August 4 that raises the maximum age for mandatory one-year military service for men to 30 from 27. Lawmakers approved the bill last month, calling the legislation a plan for "a big war" and "general mobilization." According to the law, Russian men between 18 and 30 years of age will be required to put in one year of mandatory military service as of January 1, 2024.
