A Moscow court on August 7 sentenced blogger Andrei Kurshin to 6 1/2 years in prison over two online posts he made condemning Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The court found the administrator of the Moscow Calling Telegram channel guilty of distributing "false" information about the Russian military. Kurshin was arrested in August 2023 for his posts criticizing Russia's military strikes on a dam and a maternity hospital in Ukraine.
