Pakistan Sets February 8 As Date For Delayed Elections

Pakistan will hold national elections in early February 2024, the Office of the President and the Election Commission said on November 2. "It was unanimously decided that the election will be held on Thursday, February 8," the Pakistani Election Commission (ECP) said in a statement after its members met with caretaker President Arif Alvi, whose office confirmed the date. A caretaker government has been running Pakistan since parliament was dissolved on August 9. Polls were to have taken place within 90 days of that date, but the ECP said it needed time to redraw voting districts following the latest census.
