Iran has warned opposition activists to refrain from holding any new protests.

Prosecutor-General Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejeie was quoted as saying that anyone who acts against the law will be “dealt with."

Websites of opposition leaders Mir Hossein Musavi and Mehdi Karrubi have called for protests to take place on March 1 in Tehran and other cities to press for their release from house arrest.

Meanwhile, opposition websites are reporting that both opposition leaders as well as their wives have been imprisoned in Tehran..

There was no immediate confirmation from authorities, though the Fars news agency denied the leaders had been jailed.

Musavi and Karrubi were placed under house arrest after calling on supporters to attend a February 14 rally. Clashes between protesters and security forces during the rally killed two and wounded dozens.
