11 Afghans Killed By Roadside Bomb

Afghan officials say 11 people, including nine members of one family, were killed by a roadside bomb in northwestern Badghis Province.

The Interior Ministry said the blast hit a police vehicle, killing two policemen.

Another vehicle with a family close by was also caught in the explosion.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility.

The attack took place on the second day of the Muslim holiday of Eid ad-Adha, just days after Afghan Taliban leader Mullah Omar was said to have called on his fighters to avoid civilian casualties.

On November 4, a Taliban website published a statement attributed to Mullah Omar which warned of punishments under Islamic Shari'a law for fighters responsible for civilian deaths.
