Patriarch Of Moscow And All Russia Kirill is due today to open a visit to Armenia at the invitation of All-Armenian Catholicos Garegin.

The two-day visit is expected to include talks on a plan of cooperation between the Armenian Apostolic Church and the Russian Orthodox Church.

The Russian patriarch is also expected to meet with members of the Russian community in Armenia, and with Armenian President Serzh Sarkisian.

Kirill was enthroned as patriarch of the Russian church on February 1, 2009, following the death of Patriarch Aleksii II.
