Nearly $500 Million For Flood-Hit Pakistan

Donors have raised nearly $500 million for the victims of the devastating floods in Pakistan.

The Financial Tracking Service (FTS), a UN database that aims to track all donations, showed late on August 20 that $490.7 million have come in for Pakistan's flood victims, with another $325 million promised.

Just over half of the funds, or $263 million, came via the UN emergency appeal fund, while the rest came via bilateral aid, charities, or private organizations.

The monsoon-triggered floods -- Pakistan's worst in decades -- affected an estimated 20 million people. The UN has launched an appeal for $460 million in immediate aid for the flood victims.
