NATO To Lay Out Vision For Cyber, Missile Defense

NATO defense and foreign ministers meet today to draft a "strategic concept" on how the military alliance should meet the rising threats of cyber and missile attacks in the next decade.

The ministers will also discuss proposals to reform NATO's command structure and cut the number of agencies, an idea pushed by NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen to make the 28-nation alliance "leaner and more efficient."

At the same time, Rasmussen and U.S. officials have urged allies not to cut defense budgets too much as part of national austerity measures sparked by the global financial crisis.
