Moscow Pushes Iran To Respond To Incentives Deal

Lavrov (right) with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier at the announcement of the incentives package in Vienna on June 1 (epa) July 28, 2006 -- Russian news agencies quote Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov as saying Moscow wants a swift, positive response from Iran on an international package of incentives aimed at persuading Tehran to halt uranium enrichment.

According to the agencies, Lavrov said today that Russia is counting on the Iranian leadership to finish studying the incentives package and give a positive answer as soon as possible.


Iran has said it will respond on August 22.
