Thousands of teachers have staged peaceful, nation-wide protests across Iran calling for higher wages.
Iran’s semi-official ILNA news agency reports that silent protests were held in more than two dozen cities, including the capital, Tehran.
The report said most of the rallies took place in front of Education Ministry buildings.
Pictures from the protests showed teachers holding signs calling for higher wages and for the release of their colleagues who were reportedly arrested in similar protests.
In recent months, Iranian teachers have held several protests against low wages and inadequate living conditions.
In February, they sent a petition with 6,000 signatures to Iran’s parliament speaker Ali Larijani.
