Iranian authorities and Russia's state nuclear agency, Rosatom, have announced that the first reactor at the Bushehr nuclear power plant in Iran is now functioning at full capacity.
Rosatom said on its website on August 31 that as of 1847 local time in Iran on August 29, Block 1 at the Bushehr plant reached 100 percent power.
On September 1, Iranian deputy nuclear chief Mohammad Ahmadian was quoted as confirming that the reactor had been brought to its "full capacity of 1,000 megawatts" on August 31.
Igor Mezenitsa, a top official at Rosatom subsidiary Atomstroieksport, praised the company for completing Bushehr's construction, noting that the initial building at the site was launched by a German company in the 1970s.
Atomstroieksport was able to install its own V-446 reactor at the structure built by the Germans.
