WATCH: Eight workers are killed in a roadside bombing in Kabul

Officials in Kabul say a remote-controlled bomb attack by the Taliban killed eight civilians and injured seven others early on August 7.

Wasiullah Miakhail, a spokesman for the governor of Kabul province, told RFE/RL's Radio Free Afghanistan that the bomber attempted to target a bus carrying troops from the Afghan National Army.

Instead, the blast struck a minibus full of civilians that was traveling behind the military bus.

All of the dead were men who were on their way to work on the western outskirts of Kabul.

Security forces arrested a man in the area who was carrying a device thought to have been used as the remote control detonator.

Police described the man as a member of the Taliban.

Based on reporting by AFP and RFE/RL's Radio Free Afghanistan

RFE/RL has been declared an "undesirable organization" by the Russian government.
