Former Tehran prosecutor Saeed Mortazavi has been summoned to appear in court, Iranian news agencies report.

Mortazavi was reportedly summoned following a complaint by the families of three young men arrested in the government's crackdown following the disputed reelection of President Mahmud Ahmadinejad in 2009.

The men allegedly died in the Kahrizak detention center after being tortured.

Mortazavi had issued an order for the transfer of postelection detainees to the center, which was later closed following reports of prisoner abuse and the deaths by torture of at least three detainees.

On April 9, the spokesman for Iran's judiciary, Mohseni Ejeyi, said an order prohibiting the prosecution of Mortazavi has been canceled.

There were conflicting reports as to whether Mortazavi has been officially charged

His recent appointment as head of the state social security organization has also led to impeachment threats against Iran’s labor minister, who approved his new role.
