Four NATO Soldiers Die In Afghan Plane Crash

NATO says four of its soldiers have died in a plane crash in southern Afghanistan.

Alliance officials said there was no insurgent activity when the plane went down in the province of Zabul.

Provincial police chief Rogh Lewanai said bad weather caused the plane to crash in Shahjoi district.

Elsewhere, the Faryab Governor's spokesman, Ahmad Jawed Bedar, says nearly 70 Taliban fighters have been killed in Qaisar district during the last three days of an ongoing military operation.

He said among those killed in Khaja Kenti and Shaakh villages was Mullah Abdul Samad, reputed to be the Taliban district governor.

Three police and two National Army soldiers also died.

Bedar said insurgents were hiding in houses and some families have been displaced and evacuated from villages.
