A bomb blast in a crowded market has wounded at least 14 people in western Afghanistan.

The bomb, attached to a bicycle, detonated in the center of the city of Herat.

No fatalities have been reported but local officials say two victims remain in critical condition.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.

Earlier on August 15, at least nine worshippers were injured in an attack on a mosque in the eastern province of Khost.

Officials said three grenades were thrown into a mosque in the Baghi Sara area, one exploded in the mosque, one in the courtyard, and the third failed to detonate.

The two incidents come after a wave of deadly attacks on August 14 killed up to 50 people across the war-torn country.
