French Aid Worker Freed By Taliban Returns Home

(RFE/RL) May 12, 2007 -- A French aid worker freed by the Taliban on May 11 after five weeks in captivity in Afganistan has returned to France.

Eric Damfreville, a worker for the A World For Our Children aid group, was met today by Foreign Minister Philippe Douste-Blazy at an airport outside Paris.

Damfreville called on his captors to release three Afghans seized with him. Despite looking weak, he said he was treated well by his captors.
