Afghan President Working On Government Reshuffle

Hamid Karzai (file photo) (epa) May 2, 2007 -- Afghan President Hamid Karzai said today he is working on a cabinet reshuffle amid efforts by members of Karzai's government to curb his powers.

First Vice President Ahmad Zia Mas'ud and several cabinet members have joined an opposition group in parliament called the United National Front of Afghanistan.

The new political bloc is pushing for the creation of a new post of prime minister that would share powers currently held by the presidency.
