Former President Mohammad Khatami addresses U.S. Muslims on September 2 (epa) September 3, 2006 -- During a visit to the United States, the former Iranian President Mohammad Khatami has said Muslims must forge a new identity that embraces the modern world, tolerates other religions, and works toward peace.
In an address in the Chicago area on September 2, Khatami also said that U.S. foreign policy is triggering terrorism and violence in the world. He added that American Muslims can play a key role in promoting peace and security.
