RFE/RL Office in Budapest

Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) is seeking a Finance & Operations Specialist to support our Budapest office of Szabad Európa. This dynamic role combines finance, office management and HR responsibilities, ensuring smooth operations and effective support for our journalistic mission.

Reporting to the Prague-based Regional Finance & Operations Manager,

Your responsibilities may include:

Finance

  • Processing incoming invoices and coordinating with the external accounting agency
  • Preparing payroll inputs, tax documentation, and supporting monthly closings
  • Compiling weekly financial reports for RFE/RL HQ
  • Acting as a point of contact for the bank (in coordination with the Broadcast Service Director)
  • Occasionally liaising with external legal advisors

HR

  • Preparing employment contracts and supporting onboarding of new colleagues
  • Acting as the first point of contact for employees in the Budapest office
  • Coordinating recruitment and posting job advertisements

Office Management

  • Serving as the main contact person for suppliers and the landlord
  • Overseeing office supplies, purchases, and facility maintenance
  • Ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the office

Additional responsibilities connected to the role may be assigned as needed.

We are looking for:

  • Solid experience in finance and office administration, experience in HR and a combination of these is a plus;
  • Good understanding of accounting processes and payroll support;
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a proactive, service-oriented mindset;
  • Ability to work independently and liaise with multiple stakeholders;
  • Languages: Fluency in Hungarian (native or near-native level) and very good command of English (B2+)
